Why is personal Bible study and family Bible study important?

Each of us in our life needs to continually stay close to the Word of God. For it is through the Word that God strengthens us in our walk with him. In his Word we find and are freely given the comfort we desire and the strength we don't have on our own.

But do we need to study God's Word every day? Yes and there are three reasons:

1) The world will attack your faith every day. Through various means, the world around you will mock God and try to convince you to do the same. "Do what everyone else does" is its motto.
2) The devil will attack your faith every day. He'll do his best to convince you that God doesn't care about you and that you're better off taking things into your own hands. "Do what seems right to you" is his motto.
3) Your own sinful heart will lead you away from God every day. Its desires can be strong and very convincing. It strongly resists everything but selfishness. Your sinful heart's motto is "Do whatever feels good to you."

With all the daily attacks on your faith, it is important to stay firmly rooted in God's Word. "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes" (Ephesians 6:11). Personal and family Bible study is important! That's why this website provides you with a few tools to use.

Come Study With Us!

Please also make liberal use of the resources here and elsewhere. The readings, devotions, and prayers on this page are updated on a daily basis and are provided by the Wisconsin Evengelical Lutheran Synod.

Several Bible studies are offered each week at Living Hope. Both an adult Bible study and children's Sunday School are offered after our 8:30 a.m. service each Sunday. We offer an in-depth Bible introductory class to provide an overview of the Bible and to go over the basic teachings of the Bible. All of our classes are free and everyone is invited. If you would like more information about them, please contact us.

College Student Bible Devotion
College students face unique situations, challenges, and pressures. On the College Bible Study page is a weekly Bible study designed specifically for college students.

Questions and Answers
As we study God's Word and grow in our faith, we will naturally develop questions about certain topics and Bible passages. Several pastors from our synod continually answer questions posed to them about the Church, faith, the Bible, and many other topics. On the Questions and Answers page, a sample of the questions asked and answered is printed and continually updated. If you have questions, please use this as a resource, or just contact us.
